Guide to Character Experiences at Disney Resorts
Characters visit every Walt Disney World resort several days a week! At most resorts, these are random, pop-up visits, but some select resorts have recently posted an official schedule for these resort character experiences. Keep reading for all the answers to your character meet questions!
Frequently Asked Questions:
➔Which resorts have a character visit schedule available? You’ll find scheduled times for lobby character experiences at the following resorts: Pop Century, Art of Animation, Port Orleans - French Quarter, Port Orleans - Riverside, Caribbean Beach, Fort Wilderness, and Wilderness Lodge. All other resorts have surprise character visits with no posted schedule.
➔How long do the characters visit? Each character visit lasts about an hour. They usually appear a little earlier and stay a little later than their posted times.
➔What characters will appear? This remains a surprise (except at Fort Wilderness, which is always Chip and Dale). Any characters could appear at any resort, but the most common characters to see at the resorts are Chip, Dale, Donald, Daisy, Goofy, or Pluto. Usually, 2-3 characters appear together for each set.
➔Will the characters sign autographs? Yes! You’ll be able to take photos and get autographs just like you would at character meets in the parks.
➔How do we find the characters? These newly announced scheduled meets will happen in the resort lobby (except at Fort Wilderness, which takes place at Campfire Theater). The characters will roam the lobby and you’ll need to catch up with them and get their attention to meet with them - it’s a more casual meet and greet and the character attendants usually don’t form lines for guests to wait for their turn. At resorts with surprise, unscheduled character visits, the characters might appear anywhere around the resort (not only in the lobby).
➔Are photos with the characters included in Memory Maker? Yes! The characters at the scheduled character experiences travel with a PhotoPass photographer who can take your photos and add them to your account.
➔Is there a way to know if a character visit is happening at a resort right now? Yes, while the characters are visiting any resort, you’ll see the Character Caravan bus parked outside. If you see that bus, hurry inside and look for the characters!
➔Can I join a character meet at a resort even if I’m not a guest of that resort? Definitely! Keep in mind that you won’t be allowed to park at most resorts without a reservation, so you should plan to arrive via Disney transportation. But once you get to the resort, you’re welcome to explore and enjoy resort activities, including meeting any roaming characters.
➔Is this a free way to meet some characters outside of the parks? Yes, this is a totally free experience for everyone! It’s great for a rest day and a great way to still meet some characters without the high price tag of a character meal.
➔Are these character visits really crowded? Not usually. Of course, it varies by the day, but the characters always visit during the day while most guests are in the parks, so the resort lobbies typically aren’t too busy.
