Easter 2022: Resort Candy Scrambles, Egg Hunts, and More!

Easter is always a big celebration at Walt Disney World resorts! The day before Easter, each resort will post a calendar listing the special activities they have planned for Easter Day. Anyone is welcome to participate in Easter activities at any Disney resort, even off-site guests. But note that parking is limited, so it’s a good idea to arrive at the resort via Disney transportation (unless you’re a guest of that resort or have a dining reservation booked there, in which case you’ll always be permitted to park).

Disney has hosted an on-site Easter Sunday Mass at the Contemporary Resort in years past, but that has been paused during the pandemic. This year, church services were offered via live stream and at nearby local churches, and signs were posted in every resort lobby to notify guests.

Every resort also offered plenty of adorable Easter baskets available for sale in their merchandise shops. There were a lot of ready-made baskets, or guests had the option to create their own custom Easter baskets. Custom baskets started at $7.00 for just the empty Easter basket, plus the cost of any items from the gift shop with which you chose to fill the basket. Here are some examples of ready-made Easter baskets from several different resorts:

Every single Disney resort will celebrate Easter with lots of candy! Candy may be distributed in the form of a candy scramble or an egg hunt - this varies depending on the resort, so please check the Easter activity calendars and you’ll be sure to find your family’s favorite Easter traditions happening at multiple resorts. All Easter activities were free, except for a few specialty arts and crafts, which were available for an additional cost. I was able to visit quite a few resorts on Easter Sunday, so I’ll go over some of the resort activities that I came across that day.

All-Star Movies

At All-Star Movies, the Cast Members had an egg decorating contest and guests were invited to vote for their favorite. They also had a fun Golden Egg Scavenger Hunt happening!

Animal Kingdom Lodge + Jambo House + Kidani Village

Animal Kingdom Lodge had some of the best Easter activities I saw all day! The main attraction there is the super unique opportunity to paint your own ostrich egg, and it was such a cool activity! Just a note - the ostrich egg activity actually happened the day before Easter, on Saturday, so keep that in mind if you want to participate next year. The Cast Members said it’s possible that ostrich eggs could still be available on Sunday, but it depends on how quickly they run out of supplies. You can read more about my experience painting an ostrich egg HERE. They had little plaster Easter eggs to paint at the poolside, bunny cupcake decorating, and there was an awesome Glow In The Dark Egg Hunt on Easter evening!

Art of Animation

Disney’s Art of Animation Resort also had a Cast Member egg decorating contest and a Candy Scramble.

Beach Club

Beach Club had a huge display of decorated chocolate eggs created by their bakery team. These were displayed in the middle of the lobby, and guests were invited to vote for their favorites in the Egg Decorating Poll.

BoardWalk Inn

Disney’s BoardWalk Inn had some specialty drinks on the menu as part of their Easter celebration.

Caribbean Beach

Caribbean Beach had a very cute Easter photo op set up in the lobby.

Contemporary Resort

The pastry team at Contemporary Resort created an incredible display of chocolate eggs, which were specifically designed this year to be a tribute to Mary Blair and the Walt Disney World 50th Anniversary Celebration. The display contained over 250 pounds of chocolate and featured five hidden five-legged goats.

Fort Wilderness

Fort Wilderness had so many activities going on! Easter had an “Inside Out” theme and featured “Today Is A Core Memory Day” premium tie-dye shirts, an Islands of Memory Golden Orb Scavenger Hunt with a fun button as a prize, and an Imagination Land Craft Corner where guests could make rainbow unicorn slime. The Easter Bunny also stopped by to meet guests!

Grand Floridian

Grand Floridian had the biggest chocolate egg display of them all! Intricately-detailed eggs were set up all over the lobby, and these attracted a lot of guests. The eggs here were so creative and stunningly designed. If you can only make time to see one chocolate egg display during your vacation, Grand Floridian should be at the top of your list!

Old Key West

Over at Old Key West, Cast Members hosted an epic, Zootopia-themed Candy Scramble on the tennis courts.

Polynesian Village

There was a pink vanilla marshmallow specialty soft serve available for Easter at Pineapple Lanai.

Saratoga Springs

Saratoga Springs had some fun Easter-themed activities available in the Community Hall. Guests could choose from Color Your Own Easter Egg Puzzle, Paint Your Own Bunny Magnet, Color Your Own Picture Frame, or Color Your Own Bunny Plush. They also had a huge Candy Scramble with lots of candy!

Wilderness Lodge + Boulder Ridge + Copper Creek

Wilderness Lodge had a fun Easter scavenger hunt happening all day! It was “The Spirit of Adventure” Scavenger Hunt, and it was themed to Disney/Pixar’s “Up”.

As you can see, there’s an abundance of special activities and candy happening at Disney resorts for Easter! If you’re considering an Easter vacation to Walt Disney World, you're sure to have a memorable holiday weekend!
